Off to Azteca
12 hours from now, I'll be on a plane to Mexico City.
24 hours from now, I'll be settling into the city.
In 40 hours, I'll be in one of soccer's most storied stadiums, Estadio Azteca, watching the Yanks take on El Tri.
The USA has never won there, and there is no reason to think we will this time despite having our top squad that would beat Mexico at any other venue on Earth. If there is one stadium on Earth that defines home-field advantage, Estadio Azteca is it. The elevation, smog, and 120,000 opposing fans make it intimidating to any opponent. The Mexican national team thrives in that environment.

I, along with Chris and Carlo, are making the daring and potentially dangerous trip to the belly of the beast to support our team. We know it means we'll have bags of urine, animal parts, batteries, and trash thrown at us, but we're not bothered. Of course we'll be surrounded by a fence and wall of riot police to keep us mostly safe.
Hopefully I can post updates during the trip. We're staying for 5 days to see as much of the world's second most populated metro-area in the world.
Watch the match on Wednesday at 1:00 PM PST on a channel called Mun2. Most cable and satellite carriers are offering the channel for free on Wednesday. For DirecTV, check channel 203.
