My New Local National Park

Today I went to a national park. The best part is that it's just 50 meters down the street from where I live! How can that be you ask? Well this National Park is an island....a road island (not Rhode Island)!!

Actually the "national park" is an art project happening all around Los Angeles. The group, Islands of LA, is trying to change the way people think about public spots. There's a flickr map here that shows all the Island of LA installations. Pasadena is full of these traffic islands so I suspect I'll see more installations in the upcoming weeks.
