Jair Garcia is the first person I've ever known to die in war. I met him through his brother Eddie at an LA Galaxy game while standing with the LA Riot Squad. I've played pickup soccer with him, and coached his niece's teams with him last year. We weren't close enough so that I had his cell phone number or anything, but I saw him often and we'd always have a good chat. Jair was serving in Afghanistan when he was killed last Friday. His brother Eddie broke the news on the LA Riot Squad website on Monday.

Dude that is hard. I interviewed three different families of kids who died in Iraq over the past few years. It's terrible.
