First Friday's at the Natural History Museum

You know you live in LA when the Natural History Museum turns into a dance club/rock bar on the first Friday of every month. Add to that, the intrigue of a museum, guest lectures on special topics, some wine and food and you have the makings of an interesting night.

I've known about First Friday's for a couple of years, but this past Friday was the first time I've checked it out. The Natural History Museum in downtown hosts a party on the first Friday of every month. Indie 103.1 and Club Spaceland, two of my favorite things in L.A, sponsor the event.

I missed the guest lectures, which happened to be on evolution this month. However, walking around the museum at night with a party atmosphere was fun. I hadn't been to the museum in about eight years, and I remember it being sort of dreary. The event made the NHM seem interesting and I actually enjoyed the exhibits. I was surprised at the large attendance, consisting mostly of hipsters, USC students, and geeks.

If you're in LA and are looking for a fun Friday night, definitely check out First Friday's at the Natural History Museum.
